West Allis-West Milwaukee

  Youth Advisory Council

VISION

The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a community-school collaboration promoting student leaders who take a stand against tobacco, alcohol and other drugs.  Students in grades 6-12 from West Allis and West Milwaukee are invited to become members of YAC.  YAC leaders commit to leadership and advocacy roles.  Throughout the school year, YAC members take on leadership roles in service projects, drug prevention school activities and Spring Into Action–YAC’s April evening celebration open to youth in the communities.

MISSION

The mission of YAC is to collaborate and ‘team up’ with WAWMCC members to help reduce youth drug abuse in the West Allis-West Milwaukee communities.

SERVICE

Service is the main theme of YAC.  Commitment and compassion run deep throughout the leadership styles of the YAC members.  YAC leaders understand the importance of making a difference in the lives of others.  Pledging to lead and committing to a life purpose of helping others is a huge part of the profile of all YAC members.

LEADERSHIP

YAC leaders are seen by their peers and adults as ‘leaders for tomorrow’.  Believing in the theme, Once A Leader, Always A Leader is a strong belief of YAC members as they “walk the talk”––living drug-free lifestyles and realizing the YAC Leadership Quote:       There are more of us than you think!
